Life on the Farm

Newton Grange is a brilliant place to visit to experience life on the farm. Diversification is central to agriculture of modern times. Our working sheep farm continues, and our business has diversified to provide high quality guest accommodation and a venue for weddings, private parties and outdoor events.

We are passionate about rural life, recognising the importance of farming to the local community and our close ties to food production.  We are part of the Farm Stay network, and fully support the ethos of bringing the customer an experience of rural life, reconnecting you with the nation’s production capability and where food comes from.

Experience life on the farm:

  • Enjoy fabulous farmhouse breakfasts and spacious rooms in the beautifully restored farmhouse.
  • Walk the farmland and enjoy country air.
  • Visit in March or April to see the lambing.
  • Take a visit to one of the nearby open farms – at Hesketh Farm Park near Bolton Abbey or Thornton Hall Farm Country Park in Thornton-in-Craven.
  • Visit local farm shops – we recommend Town End Farm Shop in Airton
  • Visit Skipton Market on the High Street on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays
  • Visit Farmers Markets in the Northern Dales.  In Skipton this takes place in the canal basin on the first Sunday of the month.
  • Visit us during the British Food Fortnight and book in for our Harvest Festival Weekends in September and October.
  • Visit us during the Dales Festival of Food and Drink – held at Leyburn in the heart of Wensleydale.

If you’re seeking to reconnect with the countryside and where food comes from, then look no further, visit us at Newton Grange.  Share in rural life.

Hear what some of the local attractions say:

Hesketh Farm Park

“Hesketh Farm Park is part of a 600 acre working farm situated in one of the most picturesque areas of the Yorkshire Dales; Bolton Abbey.  It is home to Sheep, Cattle, Pigs, Goats, Hens, Donkeys, Ponies, Rabbits and Guinea Pigs who are all waiting to become friends!”

Thornton Hall Farm Country Park

“Discover Thornton Hall Farm - Animal encounters, glorious countryside and family fun come rain or shine!  This delightful attraction on the Yorkshire-Lancashire border combines friendly farm animals, a huge visitor play barn (just in case it rains!) a cosy cafe and outdoor paddocks and rides.  All on a spotlessly clean working farm between Skipton, Colne and Clitheroe - just a stone's throw from the Ribble Valley and the Yorkshire Dales.”

Town End Farm Shop

“Town End Farm Tearooms & Farm Shop are located amidst the splendour of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in Airton.  It is the perfect spot for an afternoon tea, freshly prepared meals, to purchase local farm produce and arts and crafts from local artists.”

Northern Dales Farmers Markets

“Markets are held at 10 locations across the North and North East of England.  Near to Newton Grange are: Grassington, Settle and Skipton.  Further afield, a day out further in to North Yorkshire could take you to Ripon, Leyburn, Northallerton or Richmond.  Skipton Farmers Market takes place on the 1st Sunday of every month in the canal basin. The market runs from 9.30am until 14.00.”
