I love to bake. Ever since the long summer holidays at school when I used to practise different recipes for entry in the clases at Gargrave Show, I've enjoyed trying out new recipes. And this year, I thought it would be fun to bake for our B&B guests as I practise for Gargrave Show entries this year, but most importantly to really offer some local food produced by local people...
This local person is me, Rachael Berry, and the brand name is "Mrs Berry's Cakes". Taking inspiration from our own Wedding Reception at Newton Grange last year, when Rob's mum baked an amazing array of delicious cakes for our Wedding Party to enjoy on their arrival, and they went down a treat.
One of the first recipes in my own recipe notebook is flapjack. So easy to make and so delicious - perfect for picnic lunches and day's out walking or just to enjoy with a cup of freshly brewed Yorkshire tea. I decided that flapjack would be the first recipe on offer for Newton Grange guests, but with a twist to give its own distinctiveness, 'Flapjack with a hint of orange'.
