Reflections on 2012

As the sun goes down at the end of 2012, we reflect on what a momentous year it has been.

Sunset at Newton Grange B&B near Skipton

The precious Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, marking an incredible life of service by the Queen.

The triumph of the London Olympic Games. Inspiring a generation.

The wettest year we can remember!

The privilege of seeing the sun rise and set so majestically over the drumlin hills.

The year that Yorkshire secured the “Grand Depart” of the Tour de France in 2014.

A year of change in our own lives, as we move to the country to embrace rural enterprise and have some fun in building and developing the family business.

The wonderful aroma of home baking from the kitchen, as our B&B guests enjoy fresh cakes on arrival.

The joy of connecting with childhood nostalgia, baking cakes for Gargrave Show.

Delicious home baking

Rosy cheeks from exploring the Yorkshire Dales. The enjoyment of walking and cycling from the doorstep.

The learning curve of new technology – the useful introduction of Wifi to the B&B and cottages, a credit card machine and online booking system.

The establishment of our social media presence on Twitter and Facebook.

The delight on the faces of brides and grooms as they celebrate their Wedding Day.

And the pleasure of meeting our guests from all over the country and overseas, as they take time to enjoy their stay at Newton Grange.

We have very much enjoyed 2012, and look forward to 2013 and all that it brings.
