Early Autumn, an extra special time of year
Changing seasons offer a sense of delight in the natural world. As the end of summer approaches and the very beginning of autumn arrives, I am reminded of a wonderfully atmospheric walk I took one morning from Newton Grange a few years ago in the first week of October.
The morning mist was sitting in the Home Meadow and the ground was covered in dew.
As I walked along the Pennine Way footpath from the farm and over the hill towards Gargrave, the all familiar signpost was on the horizon, and the spectacular view that goes with it.
The cows looked content, grazing in the fields and the sky was bright blue.
It was a memorable day - such a crisp autumn morning for a refreshing walk over the hills, to breathe in the fresh air and to take stock of the day. A reminder of the changing seasons and how good it is to take a walk out on local footpaths to truly appreciate the North Yorkshire countryside.
Whatever you're doing this autumn, I do hope that you will have a moment or two to pause and take in the changing seasons in all their beauty.
